Refund and cancellation policy

**Data Schema Consulting ** offers paid programming consulting (technical assessments, advisory sessions, and scoped implementation). This policy explains refunds and cancellations under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and typical consulting practice.

Cooling-off (direct marketing)

If you concluded a transaction after contacting us following online advertising (direct marketing), you may cancel within five (5) business days of the written confirmation of the engagement, consistent with CPA regulation 5(2), unless work you expressly requested has already been completed during that period.

Service fees after work begins

Once we start billable work agreed in your written scope, fees for completed milestones are non-refundable. For partially completed milestones, we refund only the portion of that milestone not yet performed, calculated from the written scope.

Deposits

Deposits hold calendar time and preparation slots. They are refundable if you cancel before we begin preparation work documented in the proposal. After preparation or discovery work starts, the deposit applies to fees due and is not separately refundable.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Advisory sessions may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice without penalty. Late cancellations or no-shows may forfeit the session fee if stated in your proposal.

How refunds are paid

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method where possible, within 14 business days of approval.

Exceptions

Statutory rights under the CPA are not excluded. If a court or regulator determines a term is unenforceable, the remainder of this policy still applies.
